Nasarawa State Ministry of Local Government Inspects Community Projects, Pledges Support.

The Nasarawa State Ministry of Local Government, Chieftaincy Affairs, and Rural Development has inspected community projects in Keffi, Karu, and Kokona Local Government Areas, assuring swift intervention where needed. Director of Community Development, Mr. Elias Kigbu, led the inspection, emphasizing the ministry’s commitment to supporting community-driven initiatives.

A delegation led by director, community development, Mr. Elias Kigbu, toured community-initiated and ongoing projects across several communities in Nasarawa west, including Sabon Gari, Jigwada, Angwan Mayo and Pambarau.
During the inspection, the delegation assessed the state of critical infrastructure and identified pressing challenges confronting residents, among which are non-functional boreholes, lack of electricity, deplorable road networks, and poor-quality infrastructure.
Speaking during the visit, Mr. Elias Kigbu, who represented the Commissioner for Local Government, Community Development and Chieftaincy Affairs, said the inspection was aimed at identifying urgent community needs and liaising with the state government to ensure timely intervention.
“We want to reduce the burden faced by the people living in these communities. We understand their pain, and we will do everything within our capacity to address these pressing challenges through government intervention,” he stated.
In separate interviews, the Chairmen of the affected Local Government Areas — Hon. Idris Ahmad Damagani (Chairman, Keffi LGA), Hon. Madaki (Chairman, Karu LGA), and Hon. Agbawu Mek Agbawu (Chairman, Kokona LGA) — unanimously emphasized the need for urgent support for the communities.
They noted that while areas such as Sabon Gari, Gunduma, Jigwada, Angwan Mayo and Pambarau require immediate attention, several other communities across their LGAs are also facing similar challenges.
According to them, many of these areas have already benefited from government support through the intervention of the Governor of Nasarawa State, Engr. Abdullahi A. Sule.
The chairmen commended the governor’s commitment to development, describing his efforts across various sectors as commendable, and assured residents of continued support and prompt intervention.
Also speaking, the Special Assistant to the Governor on Community Development, Hon. Bello Bature, acknowledged the difficulties faced by the communities and reaffirmed the state government’s determination to address them.
“These communities are in need of help, and through the intervention of the state government, their challenges will be addressed. We assure them that their needs will be met, and we will come to their aid as quickly as possible,” he said.
Hon. Bature further praised Governor Abdullahi A. Sule for his developmental strides, describing his leadership as people-oriented and focused on improving the welfare of citizens across the state.
The delegation concluded the tour by assuring residents that the findings from the inspection would be forwarded to the appropriate authorities for swift action.
