Police investigators at the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Panti, yesterday turned their focus to alleged victims of Senior Pastor Chris Okafor of Mountain of Liberation and Miracles Ministries following the cleric’s failure to honour a formal invitation over weighty allegations of multiple rape and sundry offences capable of breaching public peace.
The invitation, extended by the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of SCID, directed the controversial pastor to appear by 10:00 a.m. on Monday for interrogation. It stemmed from explicit orders by Lagos State Commissioner of Police, CP Olohundare Jimoh, mandating a no-holds-barred probe into the swirling complaints.
In a statement issued Sunday, the Command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Abimbola Adebisi, confirmed receipt of “several complaints bordering on alleged sexual offences,” which precipitated the summons. “The Commissioner of Police has directed a thorough investigation into the matter.
The public is assured of justice,” the statement read in part. However, a top-ranking SCID officer, who craved anonymity for operational reasons, revealed to our correspondent that Pastor Okafor shunned the appointment. “The DCP personally instructed the investigating team to debrief him. Officers waited all day, but he did not show up. We are not resting on our oars,” the source disclosed.
To bolster the inquiry, the police have now appealed to all alleged victims to come forward. “We urge anyone with useful information or who has suffered similar ordeals to report at SCID, Panti.
Your identities will be protected, and confidentiality assured,” the officer added.
The scandal erupted in mid-December 2025, ignited by explosive social media posts from Nollywood actress Doris Ogala. In a series of Instagram videos that went viral, Ogala claimed a seven-year sexual entanglement with the pastor dating back to 2017.
She accused him of luring her with marriage vows he never intended to fulfil, disseminating her explicit photos and videos, and even contributing to the collapse of her prior marriage.
“Our findings indicate these are not isolated claims. Multiple sources within the ministry and beyond have whispered similar tales of coercion and exploitation,” a church insider, speaking off-record, told our correspondent.
The allegations have snowballed, with unverified reports of other women surfacing on platforms like X (formerly Twitter) and WhatsApp groups, fuelling outrage in Christian communities.
Pastor Okafor, renowned for his prophecies and healing crusades at the church’s Agege headquarters, has maintained a stoic silence.
Associates claim he has temporarily stepped down from pulpit duties pending the probe, though his legal team is yet to issue a public rebuttal.
The matter has reverberated through Pentecostal ranks, with insiders hinting at impending sanctions from the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN).
“This is a stain on the body of Christ. The PFN leadership is monitoring closely and may invoke disciplinary protocols if guilt is established,” a PFN chieftain confided.

Civil society groups have waded in, demanding swift justice. “No one, not even men of God, is above the law. These allegations, if proven, demand prosecution to deter predators hiding under clerical robes,” said Lagos-based rights activist, Comrade Ifeanyi Ejiofor.
As at press time, efforts to reach Pastor Okafor proved abortive, with his phone lines ringing out. The Lagos Police Command reiterated its commitment to unravel the truth, vowing to leave no stone unturned.
Police sources hinted at potential arrest warrants should the pastor persist in evading summons, underscoring the gravity of charges that could attract lengthy jail terms under the state’s anti-rape and Violence Against Persons Prohibition laws.
