NAF air strikes target terrorist networks in Nigeria’s north-east and north-west
The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has conducted a series of air strikes in the north-east and north-west regions, neutralising terrorist fighters and disrupting their supply lines.
The intelligence-led operations took place between 1 and 2 January under Operations Hadin Kai and Fasan Yamma Sector 2.
Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame, NAF Director of Public Relations and Information, said the strikes were prompted by intelligence on terrorist movements, hideouts and supply routes.
NAF aircraft targeted enclaves, transit routes and assembly points to limit the militants’ freedom of movement.
In the north-east, precision strikes hit terrorist hideouts at Abirma and Chiralia in the Timbuktu Triangle. Sustained surveillance had confirmed the sites were used for producing improvised explosive devices (IEDs) and planning attacks.
The strikes destroyed the structures, with multiple secondary explosions indicating the elimination of explosive stockpiles and logistics stores.
Further missions in the Mandara Mountains at Guva dismantled terrorist storage and coordination points, hindering their ability to regroup or launch attacks.
The operations also reached the north-west, where NAF jets struck militants near Karaduwa Giginya in Matazu district of Katsina State.
The terrorists, tracked in large motorcycle convoys, converged in a forested area; several fighters were killed, multiple motorcycles destroyed, and weapons recovered.

Air Commodore Ejodame said the missions underscored the NAF’s support for ground forces and its resolve to dismantle terrorist networks across the country.
He added that precision air operations would continue to protect civilians and help restore peace and security.
