When His Excellency, Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo took over the mantle of leadership in Kogi State, many expected loud declarations. What they got instead was quiet, deliberate work. Two years on, the results are speaking louder than any political slogan could.
The first major transformation is in the area that touches the everyday Kogi worker: salary and welfare. Under Ododo, the era of percentage salaries and endless screening has been laid to rest. Civil servants now receive 100% salary promptly, pensioners are paid as and when due, and the state health insurance scheme has been expanded to cover more vulnerable citizens. For a state where workers’ welfare once dominated headlines for the wrong reasons, this quiet revolution is a huge relief.
On infrastructure, Ododo has chosen impact over noise. Rather than abandoned white elephant projects, his administration has focused on rehabilitating critical township roads in Lokoja, Okene, Kabba and Isanlu, completing rural feeder roads that connect farmers to markets and continuing work on key legacy projects. His approach is simple: fix what the people use daily.
Security, once Kogi’s biggest challenge, has also seen marked improvement. Through strategic support for security agencies, investment in community vigilantes and sustained logistics, the Governor has helped secure major highways and farming communities. Farmers who once abandoned their farmlands in parts of Kogi East and West are gradually returning – a direct dividend of improved safety.

What stands Ododo out is his leadership style. He does not chase clout on social media. He listens, consults stakeholders and empowers his commissioners and local government chairmen to deliver. He has united Kogi APC, bringing in heavyweights like Elder Leke Abejide into the party not by force, but by persuasion and inclusive governance. Critics may want drama, but Kogi people want development. Governor Ododo has proven that governance is not about shouting the loudest, but about delivering the most.
Ahead of 2027, the question is no longer whether Ododo has performed, but whether Kogi will allow this quiet transformation to continue. From salary alerts to safer roads, the evidence is clear: Ododo has delivered and his Reelection in 2027 should be none negotiable.
