As political activities gather momentum ahead of the 2027 elections, one question is becoming louder across the three senatorial districts of Kogi State: if good leadership is what we seek, why interrupt it?

For supporters of Governor Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, the answer is simple – continuity. Within two years in office, the administration has settled into a clear pattern of service delivery, consolidating on the foundation it inherited while opening new fronts of development across the state.

From Lokoja to Okene, Kabba to Anyigba and Idah, the narrative has been one of a government that listens. The prompt payment of salaries, pensions and gratuities has restored confidence in the public service, earning the administration the open endorsement of Kogi workers who see in Ododo, a leader who keeps faith with labour. This is not a small achievement in a state where workers’ welfare has often defined the barometer of governance.

In the area of infrastructure, the ongoing road projects, erosion control interventions and rural electrification efforts point to a government determined to connect Kogi for economic growth. Security architecture has also been strengthened through sustained support for the conventional security agencies and local vigilante groups, ensuring that farmers can go to farm and traders can move their goods.

What has endeared Governor Ododo to many, however, is his inclusive style. He has run a pan-Kogi government where no tribe or district feels excluded. The recent endorsement by the Okun Youth Alliance is instructive. For a people in Kogi West who have long yearned for a stronger sense of belonging, Ododo’s appointments, consultations and grassroots projects have sent a clear message that power is being used to unite, not divide.

The call for his second term, therefore, is not about sycophancy; it is about logic. Development is not an event, it is a process. The programmes of this administration – in agriculture, youth empowerment, health and education – need time to mature, to take root and to transform lives. To truncate them after one term would be to do Kogi State a disservice.

ODODO 2027 – CONTINUITY, SERVICE AND THE ROAD AHEAD is more than a slogan. It is a call to Kogites to stay on the path of stability. The Governor has shown capacity, humility and a clear understanding that leadership is service.

If Kogi State truly deserves good leadership, then the conversation going into 2027 must include giving Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo another four years to finish what he has started.
