The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) Candidate for Bassa/Dekina Federal Constituency of Kogi State, Hon. Daniel OnĂ© Ejigbo, has described the release of seven kidnapped victims – among whom were children, as a major relief to the Biraidu community.
Hon. Ejigbo in a statement, noted that the successful release of the victims demonstrates what communities can achieve through unity and collective action.
“The news of the release of the kidnapped victims has brought great joy to us. I want to appreciate the paramount ruler – Ayidu of Biraidu for his leadership and coordination efforts
“Our security, including Kogi East Security Watch, Vigilante Groups and hunters in Biraidu, we commend your bravery, intelligence and commitment to securing the lives of community dwellers. You are all the true heroes for risking your lives in the bush to protect residents”, the statement read.
The former Commissioner appreciated youth leaders, elders and other individuals for their contributions in all ramifications and prayed God to replenish them in return.

He however called for sustained security in the Area and the State at large, pointing out that collective efforts will help send the men of the underworld out of the State.
“While we celebrate this release, we must remind the Government of Kogi State and Federal Security Agencies that our people cannot continue to rely only on local vigilantes to do what government should do
“We need sustained government intervention, including the establishment of a permanent security presence along the Biraidu corridor, improved logistics and funding for local vigilante groups, and the clearing of criminal hideouts in surrounding forests
“Local efforts saved us today, but government must do the needful to prevent future occurrence. Our farmers needs to return to their farms without fear, and the safety of rural communities should remain a priority for government and security agencies”, he stressed.
Hon. Ejigbo also welcomed the released victims back home and prayed for their recovery from the trauma associated with their abduction.
