Senator Sunday Steven Karimi, representing Kogi West Senatorial District, received a massive show of support on Monday as APC leaders, stakeholders and supporters gathered in Lokoja for a town hall meeting organised by the senator.
The meeting, which brought together party members and residents from the Lokoja/Koton Karfe Federal Constituency, provided Karimi with an opportunity to render an account of his stewardship, highlight constituency interventions and seek continued support ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The large turnout came amid reports of an alleged directive restricting some APC executives from attending the gathering.

An APC ward leader, who spoke on condition of anonymity, alleged that some party officials who initially attended the meeting were subsequently asked to leave.
“I saw the woman leader of our ward in this hall. She later told me she was leaving because I received an instruction through our WhatsApp platform that I should leave here immediately,” the ward leader said.
The allegation has generated concerns among some party members over internal control and political influence within the APC as preparations for the 2027 elections intensify.
Stakeholders Rally Behind Karimi
Despite the reported restriction, the venue attracted a large crowd of supporters and stakeholders who listened to presentations on the senator’s legislative activities and constituency interventions.
APC leader and chieftain, Alhaji Sulaiman Baba Ali, said the meeting was primarily designed to provide Karimi with an opportunity to account for his stewardship to the people.
Baba Ali urged APC members to remain committed to the party and support all its candidates.
“We are party men. As party men, we will work for all the flag bearers of our party, from council chairman to the President,” he said.
Former Speaker of the Kogi State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Abdulrahman Dangana, commended Karimi for his interventions, particularly those benefiting communities in Kupa.
The former speaker assured the senator of continued support.
Speaking on behalf of Kogi West youths, Hon. Toba Ibrahim also called on young people in the senatorial district to support Karimi.
The member representing Kogi/Koton Karfe State Constituency, Hon. Idris Aliyu Maikudi, described the senator as a lawmaker whose performance justified the turnout.
He cited some of Karimi’s constituency interventions, including the construction of an Islamic school in Girinya, and urged APC members to remain loyal to the party.
Former member representing Lokoja I State Constituency, Alhaji Sulaiman Babadoko, went further, describing Karimi as the best senator Kogi West had produced.
“Senator Steven Sunday Karimi’s tenure is an eye-opener. We have witnessed previous senators, but none can be compared with the present senator,” Babadoko said.
Karimi Highlights Constituency Projects
Speaking at the meeting, Senator Karimi thanked supporters for their backing during the APC primary election.
He highlighted several interventions in Lokoja and Koton Karfe, including plans for industrial boreholes to address water shortages in Lokoja.
The senator also said the renovation of Government Secondary School, Koton Karfe, had been completed and would soon be commissioned.
He disclosed that N500 million had been provided for the Muslim Community Secondary School in Lokoja, with work expected to commence soon.
Karimi further announced plans for 3,000 scholarships for students across Kogi State.

“I am not tired of serving you.
Therefore, vote for President Tinubu and your senator,” he told the gathering.
The meeting also observed a minute of silence in honour of people who recently lost their lives in Kupa and the late Ijumu APC Local Government Area chairman.
