The administration of His Excellency, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo has continued to demonstrate that the protection of lives and property of the people of Kogi State is not just a responsibility, but a priority.
At a time when insecurity remains a national concern, Governor Ododo has shown courage, determination and leadership in ensuring that Kogi people can go about their daily activities with greater confidence. The Chief Servant of Kogi State deserves sincere commendation for his unwavering commitment to the safety and security of the people of the State. His efforts to make our forests uncomfortable for criminal elements and to strengthen security across the state deserve our collective support and encouragement.
Special commendation must also go to Commodore Jerry Omodara, the Security Adviser to the Kogi State Government, for his dedication and strategic contributions to the security architecture of the State. Security is a collective responsibility and his commitment to working with the Governor to keep Kogi safe should be appreciated.
We must also acknowledge the contributions of Hon. Leke Abejide, who has consistently demonstrated support for initiatives that promote the wellbeing and security of our people. His willingness to support the state in this important area, among his other contributions, is worthy of recognition.
Kogi State is strategically important to Nigeria. Lokoja connects different parts of the country, and thousands of motorists and travellers pass through the state daily. When Kogi is peaceful and secured, it contributes directly to the safety and economic wellbeing of Nigeria as a whole.
This is why our political leaders and representatives should help strengthen the state’s security efforts rather than create narratives that unnecessarily portray Kogi as completely unsafe. It is difficult to understand how a state can be repeatedly described as unsafe while political programmes and activities continue to take place there regularly. If we truly love our people, we should support every genuine effort to make their communities safer.
Let us commend Governor Usman Ododo for his commitment. Let us appreciate Commodore Jerry Omodara for his service. Let us encourage Hon. Leke Abejide and other responsible representatives who support the security and development of Kogi State.
Politics will come and go, but the safety of our people must remain paramount. Kogi is our home. Kogi must be safe. And everyone who loves Kogi should be part of making it safer.
