There was a strategic meeting in Lokoja on Monday between two political juggernauts, High Chief Richard Asaje and Former Speaker of the Kogi State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Alfa Imam concerning the 2027 General elections.
The meeting between the two respected leaders from Kogi West focused on the political future of the zone especially on the chances of the zone producing the next Governor of the State.
Both Leaders, while robbing minds together, said aligning with Kogi Central remains the best option for Kogi West at this time, noting that unity across the senatorial districts will attract more projects, appointments and stronger representation at the state and federal level.
Chief Asaje said the time has come for Kogi West to look beyond division and build stronger bridges with Central for mutual benefit while Alfa Imam on his part stressed that political alignment is not about losing identity, but about gaining strength and relevance in the governance of the state.
The leaders called on stakeholders, youths and traditional rulers in Kogi West to support the move, expressing confidence that with unity and proper alignment, the zone will produce the next Governor after Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo’s Eight Years administration.
They enjoined the people of Kogi West to desist from campaign of “Kogi West Turn in 2027”, stating that the zone obviously lacks the number to produce the next Governor.
Both Chief Asaje and Alfa Imam pointed out the East will always prefer to support their own especially at the eleventh hour, advising the Leaders of the West not to fall into the trap of fake alignment with them.
They commended Governor Ododo’s leadership style in the State, describing him as a God-sent, assuring of their commitment to mobilizing the people for his continuity in 2027.
