Representation is more than sitting in the hallowed chambers of the National Assembly. For Hon. Leke Abejide, member representing Yagba Federal Constituency, it is a daily assignment, a covenant, and an undying burden to ensure that Yagba East, Yagba West, and Mopamuro are not left behind.
For decades, the people of Yagba cried for attention. Poor road networks, isolated farming communities and Youth unemployment which pushed many out of the Constituency. Schools and health centres struggled with neglect. When Abejide took the mandate, he understood that the burden on his shoulder was not just political, but generational. The task was to rebuild trust and deliver governance that touches lives.
In the last few years, that burden has translated into visible action. From constituency interventions to federal projects, the story in Yagba has begun to change. Rural roads linking farms to markets have received attention. Students have benefited from scholarships and educational support. Health facilities have been equipped and primary healthcare outreaches have brought medical care closer to the people. Women and youths have been trained and empowered with tools, grants, and skills to be self-reliant. These are not just projects. They are answers to prayers that have lasted for years.
Yet the burden remains undying because the needs are enormous. Yagba Federal Constituency is blessed with arable land, mineral resources, and a hardworking population. But potential alone does not feed families or create jobs. That is why Abejide has consistently pushed motions and bills at the National Assembly aimed at attracting federal presence to the area. He has also leveraged partnerships with government agencies, development partners, and private organizations to bridge gaps where government alone cannot reach.
Beyond infrastructure, the bigger fight is about dignity and hope. Through town hall engagements and consultations with traditional rulers, community leaders, and stakeholders, Hon. Abejide has made representation accessible. People now believe someone is speaking for them in Abuja. That belief is the foundation for any lasting development.
Critics will always point to what is yet to be done. And rightly so. A leader who carries the burden of his people must be judged by results. But it is also fair to measure progress by the foundation being laid. If roads, education, health, and empowerment continue on this trajectory, then Yagba in the next few years will look very different from Yagba of the past.
As the political clock ticks toward 2027, the message is clear: the burden on Leke Abejide’s shoulder will not lighten until Yagba Federal Constituency is better in terms of better roads, better schools, better opportunities and better lives for the residents.
That is the standard he has set for himself. And that is the legacy the people of Yagba will ultimately use to judge him.
