The Delta State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has extended warm congratulations to one of Nigeria’s foremost intellectuals and elder statesmen, Professor Sam Ejite Oyovbaire, on the occasion of his 85th birthday anniversary, describing him as an enduring symbol of scholarship, patriotism and exemplary leadership.
In a goodwill message issued on Tuesday, the Delta APC State Chairman, Chief Solomon Arenyeka, JP, said Professor Oyovbaire’s remarkable life reflects decades of outstanding service to academia, public administration, peacebuilding and national development.

Arenyeka noted that the former Minister of Information, Chairman of the Delta State Advisory and Peace Building Council, accomplished academic, administrator and respected traditional leader has consistently demonstrated uncommon commitment to unity, good governance and the advancement of society.
He described the celebrant as a distinguished statesman whose contributions to education, public service and nation-building have earned him widespread admiration and respect across Nigeria.
According to the APC chairman, Professor Oyovbaire’s dedication to truth, justice, intellectual excellence and national progress has positioned him among the country’s most respected elder statesmen.
He further commended the professor’s leadership as Chairman of the Delta State Advisory and Peace Building Council, saying his wealth of experience and wisdom has continued to foster dialogue, peaceful coexistence and sustainable development across the state.
Arenyeka added that the council chairman’s guidance has remained a stabilising force capable of inspiring confidence among political leaders, traditional institutions and diverse socio-cultural groups.
The Delta APC also celebrated Professor Oyovbaire’s revered traditional status as the Ogbiroro of Okpe Kingdom, describing the prestigious chieftaincy title as a reflection of the immense honour, confidence and respect bestowed upon him by the people of Okpe Kingdom for his invaluable contributions to the preservation of their culture and traditions.
“At 85, Professor Sam Oyovbaire remains a priceless national asset and an enduring symbol of purposeful leadership. His legacy of scholarship, statesmanship and community service will continue to inspire present and future generations.
