After 8 years at the helm of affairs in Lugard House, former Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Yahaya Adoza Bello, is being tipped by stakeholders in Kogi Central as the right candidate to represent the district in the Red Chamber. His tenure as Governor provides him with a rare advantage: direct federal connections, proven project delivery experience and the political weight to attract national resources to the zone.
During his two terms, Bello worked closely with Presidents, Ministers, and heads of federal agencies to deliver key infrastructure across the state. From road networks to health and education projects, his administration was known for pushing Kogi’s agenda to Abuja. That same access and familiarity with the corridors of power in the federal capital will be critical if Kogi Central is to secure its fair share of constituency projects, federal appointments and interventions in the 10th Senate and beyond.
Beyond connections, his record of executing projects under pressure and within tight budgets is an added advantage. The Senate is not just about making laws, it’s about attracting development. Therefore, someone who has managed a state for 8 years understands how to lobby, how to follow up, and how to ensure projects don’t just get approved on paper but are delivered on ground. Kogi Central needs that kind of executive experience at this time to bridge the gap between policy and actual delivery.
With the 2027 elections approaching, the conversation in Kogi Central is shifting from mere representation to effectiveness and influence. For many, Bello’s journey from Lugard House to a potential seat in the Red Chamber represents continuity – taking the relationships and governance experience built over 8 years and deploying them directly for the benefit of Adavi, Ajaokuta, Ogori-Magongo, Okene, and Okehi LGAs. In 2027 Kogi Central needs a senator who already knows the way to Abuja. Bello remains the man.
