Ensure teachers, workers don’t go on strike – Monarch advise FCT council chair

The Sa’Rubochiyi of Rubochi chiefdom in Kuje Area Council of the FCT HRH Alhaji Ibrahim Mohammed Pada has advised the council chairman Samuel Danjuma Shekwolo not allow primary school teachers and area council workers to embark on strike under his administration.
Pada, gave the advise when he received the council chairman Shekwolo and vice constitution Hajiya Asabe Poyi who were accompanied by two former chairmen of the council as well as some chieftains of APC who are on thank you visit to the monarch at his palace on Saturday.
He since the council has just been inaugurated into office, there was the need for him to ensure a good industrial harmony between his administration and the labour unions.
He said the council administration should ensure that the welfare and any entitlement of teachers or area council staff are given priority in order to avoid anything that may lead strike.
“I said this because we knew how primary school teachers went on strike leaving our children at home for several months while area council secretariat also remained shut because of non- payment of their arrears and other entitlements. So my advise is that you must try by all means to ensure an industrial harmony between your administration and the labour unions,”he said.
The monarch, therefore, called on his subjects, village/district heads as well as community leaders and stakeholders in the area to support new administration of the council with prayers so that he can succeed in providing basic infrastructure to the residents of Rubochi and entire Kuje area council.
Responding, the chairman of Kuje Area Council Samuel Danjuma Shekwolo, said his administration is determined to education sector in the council is given adequate priority, through rehabilitation of dilapidated of schools and welfare of teachers as well as that of staff of the council.
He informed the monarch that the council has set a road map to address infrastructural deficit including the health sector, agriculture sector, human and capital development.
The chairman, while appreciating the monarch for the reception accorded to him and his entourage, assure that his administration will also look upgrading of some village chiefs and placing them on monthly salary.
