As Muslims all over the world celebrate the 2026 Eid-ul-Adha (Festival of Sacrifice), they have been advised to sustain the values of unity and compassion demonstrated during the celebration for a better Society.
Speaking shortly after the Sallah prayers, a former Kogi State House of Assembly Aspirant for Yagba East State Constituency, Hon. Almaruf Salimonu, said the festival emphasizes sacrifice and sharing, offering a practical guide for strengthening community bonds across religious and ethnic lines.
According to Salimonu, the act of giving during Eid-ul-Adha extends beyond ritual and should translate into daily conduct, noting that reaching out to neighbors and supporting the less privileged, reflect the spirit of the season and contribute to social stability.
He added that collective progress depends on individuals choosing cooperation over division, calling on community leaders, youth groups, and religious institutions to sustain the outreach efforts that often peak during the festival.
Salimonu said consistent engagement through charity drives, dialogue and joint community projects can help translate the goodwill of the period into lasting social impact, stressing that small and consistent acts of care build trust at the grassroots level.
Hon. Almaruf Salimonu expressed hope that the lessons of Eid-ul-Adha would influence public conduct beyond the celebration, encouraging Nigerians to prioritize dialogue and mutual respect in their interactions, adding that a united and caring society remains the strongest foundation for addressing shared challenges.
Eid-ul-Adha, interpreted as “Festival of Sacrifice” is the most famous event in the Islamic religion as Muslims all around the world observe the holy festival by praying and giving alms in addition to the sacrificial slaughtering of animals.
