FCT APC Reps primaries a sham – Party Youths alleges

The FCT Youths Congress (FYC) of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has described the Saturday, house of representatives primary election in which the outgoing chairman of Bwari area council John Gabaya and his Kwali counterpart, Danladi Chiya were declared winners as a sham, alleging that primaries did not hold in some area councils
Addressing a press conference in Abuja, on Monday, leader of the FCT APC Youth Congress, Hon Naziru Abdullahi, claimed that some party bigwigs only succeeded in imposing candidates against the wishes of party members and constituents.
He said if the APC truly wants to strengthen its chances in the FCT and retain the confidence of the people, saying there was need for the party to provide genuine level playing ground for all qualified aspirants from different tribes and faiths.
He said many party faithful believed that the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, played a major role in the selection of candidates, which he said such moves has continued to generate dissatisfaction and concern among party loyalists and stakeholders across the territory.
He also said that it is unfair and unacceptable for the same tribe and religion to dominate both the senate and House of Representatives tickets under the APC in the FCT, saying democracy should be built on fairness, inclusion, and equal opportunity for all, regardless of tribe or religious background.

According to him, anything short of fairness, transparency and inclusiveness will only deepen division and weaken the party ahead of the 2027 general elections.
“Because the FCT APC Youth Congress strongly believe that competence, fairness and capacity must come before religious or tribal sentiments. No one should hide behind religion or ethnicity to justify political imbalance or incompetence.
The APC youth, therefore, called on leadership of the party both at state and national level to urgently correct the imbalance, saying the people are watching and history will remember the decisions made.
