APC Reps Aspirant Okpanachi Seeks Credible Primary, Backs Tinubu, Ododo’s Second Term Ambition
Ahead of the All Progressives Congress (APC) primary election for Idah Federal Constituency scheduled for May 15, 2026, House of Representatives aspirant, Ogah Mark Okpanachi, has appealed to party leaders and relevant authorities to guarantee a transparent and hitch-free exercise.
Okpanachi, who addressed journalists during a press briefing, said he had fulfilled all requirements stipulated by the party and the constitution to participate in the contest, expressing confidence in his preparedness for the primary election.
The APC chieftain maintained that the credibility of the exercise would depend on allowing delegates and party members to freely decide who emerges as the party’s flag bearer without intimidation or interference.
He noted that internal democracy remains vital to the survival and growth of any political party, stressing that aspirants should be assessed based on their popularity, competence, accessibility, and commitment to grassroots development.
The aspirant also reaffirmed his loyalty to the APC-led administration at both the federal and state levels, pledging continued support for the second term aspirations of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Kogi State Governor, Ahmed Usman Ododo.
According to him, the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Tinubu has continued to strengthen democratic principles, inclusion, and fairness within the party structure, adding that the same values should reflect during the APC primary process in Kogi State.
Okpanachi expressed concern over what he described as years of ineffective representation and political imposition in Idah Federal Constituency, which he said had slowed development in the area.
He promised to champion programmes that would promote youth empowerment, women participation, and attract meaningful federal presence to the constituency if elected.
The Director of the City Boy Movement (CBM), Kogi State chapter, also highlighted his longstanding contributions to the growth of the APC, saying his wide grassroots support across the state remained a source of strength in the contest.
He cautioned against any attempt to impose candidates through “backdoor arrangements,” insisting that leadership should emerge through popular support and acceptance by party faithful.
Okpanachi further appealed to Governor Ododo and the APC leadership in the state to sustain fairness and provide equal opportunities for all aspirants participating in the primary election.
He warned that any action capable of undermining the democratic process could affect party unity and weaken the APC’s electoral fortunes in the constituency ahead of the 2027 general elections.
While expressing optimism about victory, the APC aspirant urged his supporters to remain peaceful and law-abiding before, during, and after the exercise.
He reiterated his commitment to providing effective and people-oriented representation for the people of Idah Federal Constituency if given the mandate.
