The Founder and National Coordinator, Like Minds Alliance Pressure Group, High Chief Richard Folorunsho Asaje, has commended Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, for prioritizing the welfare of workers in the State as the country marks Workers’ Day on May 1st, 2026.
In a statement, Chief Asaje described the Governor’s commitment to timely salary payments, pension reforms, and improved working conditions as a demonstration of responsive and people-centered leadership that strengthens trust between government and labor.
Chief Asaje, who is the Bobagunwa of Igbaruku, noted that workers remain the backbone of any functioning society and that Governor Ododo’s policies have brought relief to households across Kogi State at a time of economic pressure.
He highlighted the administration’s engagement with labor unions and its focus on infrastructure projects that create direct and indirect employment, saying such actions shows that governance can be both practical and compassionate.
Chief Asaje called on civil servants to reciprocate by upholding diligence, transparency, and professionalism in public service.
He also urged other state leaders to emulate Governor Ododo’s approach of dialogue over confrontation with labor groups, stressing that sustainable development is only possible when workers feel valued and protected.
Chief Asaje reaffirmed his support for initiatives that promote social peace and solidarity, adding that Igbaruku and the wider Okunland stand with efforts that improve livelihoods and foster harmony between government and citizens.
