Kogi PDP Rallies members for unity, slams APC over economy, insecurity ahead of 2027

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Kogi State has intensified calls for unity among its members, urging aggrieved stakeholders to set aside their differences and work collectively toward reclaiming power from the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2027 general elections.
This position was reinforced on Saturday at a high-level stakeholders’ meeting attended by prominent party leaders, including Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, who represents Kogi Central, former members of the House of Representatives, and past governorship aspirants of the party.
Addressing participants, PDP leaders emphasized that the party is undergoing renewed internal cohesion and strategic repositioning, with a strong focus on grassroots mobilization aimed at rebuilding public confidence and expanding its support base ahead of the next electoral cycle.
The party also launched a scathing critique of the APC-led Federal Government, accusing it of mismanaging the nation’s economy and failing to effectively address the persistent security challenges confronting the country.
According to the PDP, worsening economic hardship and rising insecurity have placed Nigeria in a precarious state, requiring urgent intervention.
“The APC has crippled the economy and deepened insecurity. As a responsible opposition, the PDP has a duty to rescue Nigeria from imminent collapse,” the party declared.
In her remarks, Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan called on party faithful to rise above internal divisions, stressing that unity remains the bedrock for rebuilding the PDP’s political strength and relevance, particularly at the grassroots level.
Similarly, the Kogi State PDP Chairman, Sanni Gambo, noted that the party is repositioning itself as a credible and viable alternative to the ruling party.
He disclosed plans to intensify engagement with communities across the state as part of efforts to consolidate support ahead of 2027.
Other party stalwarts, including former House of Representatives member TJ Faniyi and former PDP governorship aspirant, Abubakar Idris, echoed the call for unity, maintaining that only a cohesive and focused PDP can restore stability, good governance, and development in the state and the country at large.
The meeting concluded with a resolution to embark on sustained reconciliation and outreach initiatives across Kogi State, aimed at strengthening party structures and fostering inclusiveness as the PDP prepares for the 2027 polls.
