A House of Assembly Aspirant for Yagba East State Constituency, Hon. Almaruf Salimonu, has assured the people of the Area that his aspiration to represent them in the Kogi State Assembly in 2027 remain intact.
Hon. Almaruf gave the assurance while reacting to reported endorsement of the current Chairman of the Area for the next election at a meeting in Lokoja, the State Capital.
The All Progressives Congress (APC) Yagba East Assembly aspirant enjoined the people of Yagba East and his teeming supporters to remain calm and focused, noting that he is firmly in the race and confident of victory at the Party’s Primaries.
He pointed out that the national and state leadership of the APC are committed to maintaining fairness in the contest to rekindle the trust of the people in governance.
“The Leadership of our great Party APC at all levels are committed to justice and equity in the process. In Yagba East LGA, there is a long-standing rotational arrangement which must be respected to sustain peace, fairness, and the harmony the people have been enjoying over the years
“We are not shaken by the purported endorsement of the current Yagba East LGA Chairman. We are hopeful, our 2027 Assembly aspiration is intact and it is also obvious that no zone has ever been elected to complete two tenures before so there’s no cause for alarm
“We trust that our party leaders will uphold the rotational arrangement that has existed from time immemorial for justice, prosperity and peaceful coexistence
Hon. Almaruf who stressed that democracy thrives when there is healthy competition, transparency, and the freedom for all qualified aspirants to contest without intimidation or undue interference, noted that grassroots support remains the strongest determinant of electoral victory, expressing gratitude for the overwhelming encouragement he continues to receive across communities in Yagba East.
He also reassured party stakeholders that his ambition is rooted in service, development and the commitment to give Yagba East a louder voice in the State Assembly, vowing to pursue legislation that prioritises youth empowerment, education, economic opportunities and improved social welfare for vulnerable citizens if elected.
“I urge you all to remain steadfast. Keep the torch burning and hold on to hope. No shaking — we remain in the race and victory will be ours Insha Allah”, he added.
Hon. Almaruf Salimonu is a successful businessman who has consistently empowered his constituents and provided support for widows, widowers, orphans and vulnerable individuals across Kogi State.
Recently, he donated writing materials to public and private schools, produced one million branded notebooks for pupils and students, and awarded scholarships to outstanding students across Yagba East, including support for a physically challenged student at St. Kizitos Primary and Secondary School who had been left to fend for himself from SS1 to SS3.
