2027 Kogi Gov’ship Poll: Group Begs Tinubu to Back Oil Mogul Kutepa as APC Flagbearer
….Open letter urges president to consider Kutepa’s business pedigree for Kogi state transformation
A prominent group, Kogi Concerns Group, has made a passionate appeal to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to endorse Alhaji Abdulrazaq Isa Kutepa, a leading oil magnate, as the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for the 2027 Kogi State governorship election.
In an open letter addressed directly to the president, the group described Kutepa as a “son of the soil” with the capacity, commitment, and leadership experience needed to rescue Kogi from its current challenges and propel it towards prosperity.
BUILDING A BETTER KOGI: ODODO’S VISION FOR PROGRESS
“Kogi State is too rich to be poor,” the letter stated, calling on all Kogites, regardless of political affiliation, to shun mediocrity and embrace ethical politics by backing Kutepa.
Kutepa’s Business Empire and Leadership Credentials:
Alhaji Kutepa, co-founder and Chairman/CEO of Waltersmith Petroleum Oil Limited, an indigenous upstream oil and gas firm, brings over 30 years of experience in financial services and the oil sector.
His Waltersmith Group spans manufacturing, real estate, hospitality, agriculture, and oil and gas operations, showcasing his “vision and entrepreneurial flair,” according to the group.
The letter highlighted Kutepa’s “remarkable ascendancy in the business firmament of Nigeria and Africa,” noting that his multifaceted career has equipped him with skills to tackle governance complexities.
“We urge Mr. President to consider Alhaji Kutepa’s experience, entrepreneurial spirit, and commitment to Kogi State’s development,” the group wrote, drawing parallels to President Tinubu’s transformation of Lagos State.
Call for Unity Across Kogi’s Senatorial Districts:
The appeal extended to Kogites from the East, West, and Central senatorial districts, urging them to rally behind Kutepa.
“If given the mandate, he is poised to transform Kogi State into a thriving hub of prosperity, much like the transformation witnessed in Lagos under your leadership, Mr. President,” it added.
The group affirmed that Kutepa “has paid his dues and is ready to serve,” pledging their unwavering support for his candidacy.
Kogi Concerns Group signed off with a clarion call:
“Together, let’s bring Alhaji Abdulrazaq Isa Kutepa to the helm of Kogi State and chart a new course for our beloved state.”
The letter comes amid growing jostling for the 2027 governorship, with incumbent Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo constitutionally amplifying his readiness to seek a second term.
